The prep work comes first. Try to have the prep work completed before cooking; this is important. Preparing some of the ingredients ahead of time can reduce the amount of stress you feel when it is time to prepare the meal.

If you are preparing a meal for a boss or new date, cook something that you are familiar with. Refrain from enthusiastically whipping up a new dish or using untested ingredients. This will allow for an easier cooking process.

During autumn, apples are an important ingredient in many recipes; however, they do turn bad if they are not carefully stored. Air that is dry and warm tends to make apples rot, and you can slow down this process by loosely placing them in plastic bags that are tied shut. Store them in a cool area, such as a refrigerator, garage or basement. Make sure you watch them, though, because if even one is rotting, it can cause the whole lot to spoil.

Fresh Basil

Are you using fresh basil to cook with? Gather a small bunch of freshly cut basil and place it in a glass. Fill the glass with water till the stems are covered. Keep it on a kitchen counter so you remember to use it. If you replace the basil’s water enough, the basil can grow roots while in the water. Cut or trim the basil occasionally to encourage additional growth and you can enjoy fresh basil for some time!

Tofu and beans are excellent sources of protein. Most grocery stores stock these items. For a meat alternative, try pan frying seasoned tofu. Make beans a less boring source of protein by including some herbs when you boil them.

This way, the fruits will stay fresh all year long. Additionally, you’ll have fruits available to you that aren’t for sale in the markets when they’re not in season.

Substituting another liquid for milk or water can help give your meals a new flavor. If your favorite recipes call for milk, try substituting with buttermilk, yogurt or sour cream. Adding different and interesting liquids to a recipe can help the dish become more interesting and nutritious.

As you can see, cooking can be easy. With the right techniques, creating delicious dishes for family and friends can suddenly become a breeze! Now that you have been introduced to these great tips and tricks, you just need to make the time to go and give them a try!
