Add this mix to the sauce little by little until it becomes thicker. Stir the sauce constantly as you slowly add the starch mixture until it reaches the desired thickness.

Many people find slicing meat into thin strips very difficult; however, if you partially freeze the meat, the task is much simpler. This method is great for oriental meals that require small strips. There’s less tearing of the semi-frozen meat as it’s cleanly sliced. However, so they are evenly cooked, you want to make certain the meat strips are thawed before cooking.

For healthier, lower-calorie mashed potatoes, add some cooked cauliflower to your tubers. Cauliflower does not have a strong taste and will be virtually undetectable when mixed with the potatoes and other ingredients. As a bonus, cauliflower is the same texture and color as potatoes, so no one will be the wiser when you improve the nutritional content and lower the caloric content of your mashed potatoes.

To maintain nutrients and color in your vegetables, quickly steam them until just crisp-tender. Vegetables that are slowly and thoroughly cooked, are less tasty and nutritious than vegetables that are cooked briefly. Using these techniques will mean putting healthier food on the table. Learning to cook them for the minimum necessary time is the key to better vegetables.
